Store Operations Manager

Manage Store to optimize sales and profitability and to satisfy Customer and Store needs. Provide customers with a shopping atmosphere that is well maintained, clean, organized and safe. INTENT OF JOB DESCRIPTION AND MODIFICATION This job description describes the duties and responsibilities, qualification requirements, physical demands, work environment, etc. for this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties may be assigned. Performance Appraisal (PA) measurements are noted in brackets ___ . 1. Provide Customer Service (personally and through subordinates) to increase Customer base and Customer sales per ticket amount. Respond and resolve Customer complaints. PA: Comply with the Company's Quality Customer Service QCS standards. Increase overall sales and attain average monthly sales per Associate goal. 2. Monitor inventory of merchandise in Departments 3-15. Maintain appropriate merchandise levels through proper ordering, receiving, pricing, merchandising and shrink control. May handle ordering of merchandise for specific departments. Maintain accurate bin tags and signing in the store. Provide displays, brochures and other point of sale information as needed to assist the customer to make buying decisions. PA: Comply with the Company's Store Maintenance SM standards. Attain budgeted monthly gross profit per Associate and gross profit return on inventory. 3. Oversee the merchandise return process to ensure Company procedures for refunds, credits and exchanges are followed and to ensure Customer satisfaction. As required, approve or deny returns as required by Company policy. PA: Policies and procedures for return process followed. 4. Recruit, hire, train, motivate and supervise store Sales Associates to meet store staffing needs. Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures. PA: Budgeted staffing levels maintained. Associates obtain maximum productivity. Comply with the Company's Associate Training AT standards. 5. Merchandise Company products to greatest sales advantage. Coordinate activities for promotional efforts such as advertising, signage, store preparation and orientation/education of Associates. PA: Comply with the Company's Store Maintenance SM standards. Attain desired merchandise turns. Promotional activities organized with sufficient merchandise. Sales Associates fully knowledgeable about products. 6. Monitor competition to identify merchandise trends, customer flow and competitor prices. Recommend potential merchandise and pricing strategy to General Manager and District Retail Manager. PA: Maintain competitive edge in local market. 7. Oversee organization and maintenance of the sales area both interior and exterior, to provide a positive and clean retail environment. PA: Comply with the Company's Store Maintenance SM standards. 8. Monitor cash handling and cash control procedures at point of sale registers. Handle all store refunds. Review and balance credit report. Prepare and handle bank deposits. PA: Ensure cash is in balance on a daily basis. 9. Open/close the Yard/Store and fill in for General Manager and/or Yard Operations Manager as required. PA: Yard/Store opened/closed on a timely and consistent basis. Adequately fill in for other management jobs. 10. Manage Associates, assets and inventory to achieve the Best Management Practices as outlined in the Management Bonus Program documents. PA: Required number of Best Management Practices achieved. 11. Conduct and log scheduled cycle counts. PA: Accurate inventory counts. 12. Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required. PA: Satisfactory participation, retention and application of training program subjects. 13. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned. PA: Efficient completion of assigned duty, responsibility or task. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 1-12 Associates in the store operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. NATURE/SCOPE: This job is key to the effective functioning of Store sales and operations and to the overall Company profitability in Departments 3-15. This job manages varying amounts of Annual Sales and Average Inventory according to size of Store. DIMENSIONS: This job requires a strong leader and coach. The individual should have a good knowledge of point of sales systems, basic business accounting, safety and store security. ORGANIZATION: This job reports to the General Manager which reports to the District Manager. This job also has a strong dotted line relationship to the District Retail Manager. The other position reporting to the same supervisor is the Yard Operations Manager. Positions reporting to this job are the Department Head, Cashier, etc. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
